Post Scriptum: An Independent Magazine of Literature and the Arts (2019–): A niche quarterly magazine for the educated classes

Abstract

This article presents a profile of Post Scriptum, an independent quality magazine, which describes itself as a quarterly but is in fact a biannual. Edited by a Polish‑British team of journalists and enthusiasts, Post Scriptum: An Independent Magazine of Literature and the Arts has been present since 2019 as a niche publication in the British market. Its founder and editor‑in‑chief as well as artistic and hands‑on editor Renata Cygan is a poet, translator, art photographer, computer graphic designer and cultural activist of the Polish diaspora in the United Kingdom. Post Scriptum's regular sections feature fiction, poetry, visual arts, insightful journalism and latest book news, packaged in a carefully‑designed layout. Each lavishly illustrated issue, put out in a Polish and an English version, is c. 100‑120 pages long. In the internet it can be found at www.yumpu.com/user/postscriptum. The magazine's prime target audience are artists, art historians, museum workers, curators of exhibitions, art gallery owners, and, generally, all those interested in literature, film, theatre, music and architecture. To produce its profile of the Post Scriptum this article has relied on the techniques of press content analysis and an assortment of press microbiographies and interviews.
