Abstract

The Women's History Research Center is inextricably linked to the Institute of Women's Studies, an organization established in 2011 by representatives of the Bialystok scientific community - mainly academics. Since the beginning of its activity, it has been functioning at the UwB Department of History and Sociology (currently the Department of History and International Relations). Among the founders of the Institute were: employees of the University of Bialystok, the Higher School of Finance and Management, the Non-State Pedagogical School and the Fourth High School in Bialystok, as well as doctoral students of the University of Bialystok. The originator and initiator of the establishment of the Institute was Prof. Dr. Małgorzata Dajnowicz - head of the Department of the History of Culture, Thought and Social Movements at the University of Bialystok, Podlasie Regional Conservator of Monuments and President of the Board of the Institute of Women's Studies.
