Abstract

This article charts the place of the Poets and Painters’ Press, run in London from 1949 until 1991/92 by Czesław and Krystyna Bednarczyk in the context of other Polish media that functioned in the United Kingdom since the outbreak of World War II. This study focuses in particular on the Bednarczyks’ most extraordinary labour of love — the high-end quarterly Ofi cyna Poetów [Poets’ Press] which appeared regularly between 1966 and 1980
